Take Time to Think

TASC continues the tradition of the Mid Wales May Festival in making sure that time is given to thinking about what and why we do it, as well as how to do it better. .

That's why the programme included Tony Benn (pictured above) who appeared at the festival in 1993 as well as Billy Bragg (1990) and Ewan MacColl (1989).

Ewan MacColl's Critics Group spent a lot of time discussing how to sing folk songs, not always an easy or amicable process as can be heard on the excellent How Folk Songs Should be Sung narrated by Martin Carthy, himself a frequent visitor to the Mid Wales May Festival.

The Severn Suite

In 2005 we commissioned a new suite of dances from John Kirkpatrick and Karen Tweed. You can see the brief on the left.

This is the video of an interview with John by Mike Greenwood which later appeared in the Welsh Folk Magazine Taplas.

Opinion pieces and articles TASC Administrator Philip Freeman wrote for Taplas in the 1990s.
