The Folk Powys workshop programme was developed in partnership with Helen Wilding-Smith, Powys Music Co-ordinator as part of Powys County Council's Children and Young People's Music Strategy which was launched in 2010.
This followed work by TASC in creating a Llandinam Village Band (2007)and a ceilidh band project for Beulah (2009).
A similar project took place in Montgomery in early March 2014. After the start-up workshops ,
the band played for a very successful New Year's Eve Ceilidh in Mongomery Town Hall. Thanks to Jeremy for joining the band on the night, to the Montgomery Community Choir for additional music, to Ian for the PA and Bruce for organising the stewards.
New members are always welcome - for more information contact Lydia Bassett on 07968 623022
DIENW and LLANDOVERY/BEULAH WORKSHOPS
The Folk Powys sessions continued in Llandrindod Wells and Newbridge on Wye in 2011&12. This led to the formation of a community celidh band which meets in the Llandovery/Beulah/Garth area and is called DiEnw. Details can be found here.
